My boyfriend, (ex), used to play a lot Evony.
I was quite annoyed, but I liked him so I bear with it.
Watching him I noticed this site and started reading it.
And I learned something useful.
I did not played so did now knew details like the persuasion and others.

Few days ago I busted him cheating on me. I was devastated, but after I passed it over, I started rummaging thoughts of revenge. Scratching his car is too easy, setting it on fire is too illegal, so I thought to something else.

I made an account on Evony, on the server he play, on the state he has cities, and while there some warriors were made, I waited till I knew he will be on the way to home after work,and I started guessing his password. I knew his email. I did not guessed right away, but quite fast. I was running out of guessing when I decided to waste a shot an tried her name. Bingo, it was right. I would never guessed that he will be so stupid to use her name as a password. The ex password was my name.

So I dropped all his cities except the lesser one. I knew that this is possible, but what I did not knew was the persuading thing. So I attacked my brand new city with his best hero and a scout.

It was not so far away, but it took few minutes and did not worked first time, and I was afraid that he will get home and save the hero, but luckily I suppose he was busy with her and was late. So finally the hero was imprisoned in my city, so all I needed to do now, was to write to him the email I used for that account and the password. I was nice enough to use her name.

Now he will need to raise that account through all those titles and get some extra medals to persuade his here back. I know that cities are easy to take since so many players quit playing, but for that hero he will need to work. Now let her to be bored to death while he send attack after attack between too kisses :)).

I got bored of constructing, I defended my empire, but still I do not have the heart to leave Evony so i decided to organize some contests.

I already have two ideas.

But before I start I would like to have some feedback.

Persuasion

So here we are.

Me, the farmer dripping blood and sweat after the so many battles, but shining with the grin of victory on my face. Yet there was another battle waiting for me. Behind heavy bars stood the mighty hero. And even I changed the named of the city, changed the flag and painted the walls, to be sure that the traces of our hero was lost, I still gathered all the army I could, something like 300k archers and 400k scouts, I do not remember well, but anyway, with all food production in that city, there still was some 5 mil minus on food.

So with all that army swarming I felt a little protected, but somehow I was chased by the demons of fear, expecting the unexpected like the hero to die, vanish or commit suicide.

Ans with that fear chocking me, I stuffed fast some 80 million lumber, 50 mill wood and 150 mill food and started pumping warriors.

I needed quite a lot, I do not remember well how many medals were there, 7 nation and 4 justice, but It was required 39 and 30 so a total of 69, minus those eleven, 58. Somewhere inn the process I got a senior box and finally I needed just some fifty and something medals. But With those heroes I was losing up to 25 k warriors per attack, and once at 5 attack one was fruitless, so with 60 attack needed there was about a million and a half warriors required.

I prepared myself for 3 days of labour and I started along the new road of victory.

By the way, I forgot to tell about the winning of senior medal box. I do not remember if I got it in first day of capturing the hero when I hoped to persuade him before I fall of my chair, or I got it next day when I was aware already that I still have days till the end.

Anyway, there were few amulets, so I pushed the wheel of fortune with hope shining in my eyes.
First one, a speaker. Oh God. What I need for a speaker? To shout to the world my despair?

Next one... and In look on the wheel for medals, and to try to pin the wheel with my stare and stop it on the medal , but there was no medal. Full of anger I mumble incoherently , and when the wheel was almost stopping I notice that there was a senior medal box right on top. I click on it, and say.

-Here you must stop, and right there stopped. And so, I got 4 medals. 100k warriors spared.
The last amulet, I do not know how, but I got another senior medal box from those amulets.
I go to open them, but there is only one senior medal box.

Oh man I was dizzy. I will never know if the second box was a vision, or Evony ripped me of my gain. It happened so many time to disappear things on Evony, so I suppose that I was robbed.

Anyway... shift happens. That's life.
I will end the wheel intermezzo with a last draw from one of next days. While checking reports to see what I got, I noticed that I got an amulet too. I use it. The wheel is spinning. There was a senior medal box, and inspired by previous experience I start clicking furiously on it.... and... the wheel stops one square before my box. Dammit , dammit dammit. I pushed the brakes too hard.

Anyway, back to the medal hunting. The first day I made about 400k warriors, I got what medals I supposed I will get, made a mistake too, because at medals you need to wait few minutes for npc to reload, meantime reloading 40k of warriors, but if you do not take care and miss the timing, there will be 80k warriors, and with wall defence, your 90k warriors will be nothing but waste.

Next day the struggle continues, even I succeeded to make more warrior. The third seems that I will reach the goal, but somehow the odds were against me. Usually, from 4 hits there was one empty, one Justice medal and two Nation ones. Nasty odds because there were needed more Justice than Nation. But for me was even nastier, because I got even three empties on a row.

Anyway, I got the title of prinzessin, so all I needed was the last 14 Nation medal. While I was hunting last Justice for the title there gathered 7 Nations so I needed only 7 more. But I made two mistakes again, lost the tempo again, so I needed to wait again one hour to clean the gathered army with archers from my account. You remember that I wasn't in my account here. This was the account who fought so hard against enemy. So here was no troops to take an NPC10, so the only way, was to take the first hit with my archers, and continue milking the medals with warriors, which could be raised much faster.

So after losing tempo, I realised that I push too hard if I want to restart the assault, and decide that 4 days are as good as four and stop.

Next day I come happily prepared to greet my new persuaded hero, there was about 600k warriors, only seven or less medals to get, so I was quite confident. I was aware that now will be still more attacks than 7 because there was to expect 2 or 3 empties and maybe 3 or four Justice that I do not needed anymore. But with all that army I was confident that all those 14 Nation soon will be mine and the hero the same. With 600k it was expected to launch about 20 attacks because not all attacks took 25k toll. When there was the best hero, the loses was close to 10 k.

But the odds were really in a nasty mood. Just imagine. Before I took 2 Nations for a Justice, but now when I needed Nations, I got even 3 Justice in a row. I was foaming seeing my army decimating faster and faster, and almost started to lose my hope and think that I will need the fifth day. When finally two Nations again, I am exulting with happiness, I go to the prisoner with hands full of medals, but...

Oh mighty gods why do you punish me?

Second ago I was grinning, but now the hero was grinning behind bars.

Cooling the steam that cluttered my brain and I read again.

"in order to persuade the hero you need 24 Nation medals.

Dammit, and dammit and dammit.

Tired, and after so many days I forgot the real number of medal required and my mind replaced the number with one more convenient.

Anyway, meantime the timing was lost again, but even it wasn't ten more medal were not possible to get with what army I had left.

And here I am, From 3 days planned to 5 that I really needed. I already was scared that maybe those 5 will be 6.

But 5 it was finally when I got the prize. I almost forgot to be happy after all that struggle.

But the effort was repaid. Now one warrior could be made in one second, and an archer in 20.

Victory

So,

Our enemy was good. I do not know if he used bots or just had plenty time to play but he fought with three of my allies. This kind of fight, not organized is just wasting of armies, ocasionally a city lost or taken. I do not noticed that he took any city, but the same he did not lost too.

Anyway, when I joined the battle one of my allies was almost finished. No more armies, no more mood to play, and by luck he logged in the last minutes, handed me the account and left the game.
I raised loyalty, reinforced, and attacking armies perished. The fight was over for that night. There came 200k scouts but died in process and everybody gone to bed.

Next morning, not as usual I wake early with one hour and notice that all my reinforces was lost, and city was in the last minutes. The guy seemed to can pour unlimited armies.

I sent other reinforces and his attaking armies perished again. But he came back is fury. He was a real ball of anger, and I was puzzled, why this sudden heavy attacks. He wiped my new reinforcement, but lost his armies too and asked help fom other ally of him. I did not wasted last of my soldiers but I simply kept raising loyalty. I had some plans in real life so I was thinking to drop the city cince the owner left for good the game, and I barely had time for my cities. But I wondering why that guy is so pissed off.

And I noticed, I saw an hero prisoner in the city he was attacking. It was a fat hero, almost 350 at attack. :))

WHAT a surprise. In the morning at first attacks, after 3 waves of 100k scouts, he saw that I have only 250k archers in the city and attacked again. He sacrified those archers but my mistake he forgot about the loyalty of the hero, and he escaped and taken prisoner.

So that is why he was so angry. Now I was thrilled too. My hero was barely touching the 200 level, so his hero was quite a prize. I pressed the persuade button and I was informed that I need 24 Nation medal. There was 7 medals olready so i needed only 17.

I cancelled my schedule for that day and started to prepare things for getting Nation medals. I needed to get them in the next 10 hours I could stay online . The attacks stopped meantime, but for sure would have started again soon.

Anyway so many medals seemed a lot, but I was prepared to make a white night too when I noticed that I need to take the last title too for persuasion, so I needed another 15 Nation medal, and 30 Justice ones. In fact only maybe 26 because 4 was already there. But with this extra load of medal to get I realized that the task is impossible. 17 medals was maybe near impossible, because I needed to make the warriors for taking them, but to get about 50 medal in a day, was certain not a thing to do. So the only way was teleporting. I bought one advanced teleport, and docked the city in the middle of my territory. It was less than 50 miles of the battle place, but the attacker does not knew who I was.

Anyway, the persuading of the hero is a story alone and I will reveal it in a separate chapter. The persuasion.

But the war with this enemy continued for the next week. When he saw his army disbanded the leadin hero dissapeared full of rage he took all his anger on other ally of mine, neighbour with the city I just saved. He assumed that from there all the reinforcements come. The owner of those cities, was peaceful and he was under constant attack in last month, so he was not a rreal threat for anybody. He surviced only because the rest of alliance reinforced supplied and reinforced him. I was sitting him for months already and saved his city many times already.

But now the enemy came again and again like a force of nature. I cannot understand how he could still gather armies. And by luck I logged there three or four times again in the last minutes. All my new armies I raised was lost here. I was almost finished too, but luckily nobody attacked me. One day while I was in the account where the fat hero stood prisoner now, chatting in the world channel, an ex ally of my buddy from our ex alliance, now allied with the enemy just sayd hello and how do you do. I played along, and when asked about how thing are going in my alliance, I dissinformed her telling that ay any hour is somebody online, so no city can fall. I hoped that she will inform the one who lost the hero, and who banged now at the gates of some deserted cities, and he will cease attacks.

I do not cared about those cities, but if he took them, he could advance toward my cities.
And again, by luck I logged at 3 in the morning, and guess what. My enemy was there. The city was again in the last minutes. And reinforcements, troops wiped... and after that was silence.

Finally he was defeated. Asa matter of fact he had a last blast of power after a week when he came with 60k cataphracts and wiped about 150 k of my archers, and that was all. The force of the nature was exhausted. Me, the farmer was too, but I was alive richer with a 350 attack hero. Meantime I succeded to persuade him. You can read about it in the next chapter. Persuasion.

The beginning

So, as a farmer I started my slow and laborious building of my empire on Evony.

The rules are different here so I made a lot of mistakes of development.
Anyway, one rule is common in all strategies games, you must be part of of an organized alliance, otherwise you risk to be wiped out.

But bad luck, my first alliance was nice but not organized. So when nearby rised an aggresive neighbour, I took my tools and fled.

After a month I raised nice farms of npcs, but the game owners moved us in a new server by merging 7 szervers, so I needed to build again my npcs. Now again, alliance not organized, a nasty neighbour started to bully me, just telling me to teleport. How could I if I already used my teleports?

So he sent full attacks, so all I could do was to raise loyalty, and this continued for 5 hours.
Finally he stopped, and asked him why he stopped, because I could continue 3 more hours, and after that drop the city. He sayd that just plundered me :) Yep 5 hours in a row. :))

Anway , I was smaller, there was no organized alliance so sure I would have lost or dropped the city, But I won 1000 coins and bought teleports and was gone.

Here was war too, but my zone was quiet. But not for long. Even I have rebuilded, and made enough soldiers I was not prepared for war yet and one enemy teleported near me. Our sizes was similar, so for sure would have been just waste of ammunitions, but the same for sure would have stopped my development.

And then, other black bigger clouds raised at horizont. So my alliance got allied with the ex enemy to be able to face the new one that approached. So I had time to develop finally. The war was nearby but far enough so I can develop without involving directly. I was just sending reinforcements and supplies when needed.

This was only the first phase, a long one, but without glory. But now I was prepared for the worse. Still no real organizing even there was few of my allies that fighed heavily with the enemy, but there was no headquarters to organize around the clock defence, and real attacks.

But they prepared the battle ground for me, and when I came, I won.

I am a farmer

I disliked strategy games since I saw games likes CIV or UFO a decade ago.
But when Travian got released I got hooked. I played two years till I decided that I spend too much playing it, and finally quit.

I like building and raising all can be raised, but I do not like fighting. But I need to, because always there are those who wants what is mine. And I like crushing them. I prepare well and crush them. I did it 6 times from 7 servers in those 2 years. The single time I lost, the enemy was really tough, and got a good alliance too.

To have succes in games like this you must follow some rules. Simple rules.
To be perseverent.
To be patient.
To make plans.
To follow the plans.
To have good allies.
To be friendly with neigbours, and engage fight only when diplomacy fails.
To protect your goods, and not let others to taste from them, and feed them with your work.
And so many other small rules.

Anyway, even all over those virtual worlds many players praise themselves to be aggresive, to like fighting, to hate noobs and simcity players, the truth is that you cannot fight if you do not build first. When you develop stealing from others and succeed is because there are so many stupid ones who let them steal, it is not because stealing is a succesful way to develop.

The medal

You need medal for three things, getting promoted, (you need to get pro,oted to be able ta ake or make more cities) persuading heroes, or rewarding them.

The most important is promotion, the less is rewarding since you can reward wuth gold too. Medal have the advantage that give more loyalty points at once, so if you need it fast is a good thing to use medals.

The most rare is persuading heroes, becsause you do not captgure heroes so often.

Anyway, the trouble with medals is getting them. You can buy boxes with medals if can afford, or you can get them attacking succesfully valleys or npcs. Sometime they came often sometime very rare, depend on how are the chances set by game owners.

Anyway, if you need those in low level vallys, there is only the annoying repeated attacks. But if you want justice or nation medals, you get them seldom in high valeys, or quite often in npc10. But npc 10 costs a lot of soldiers. Those damn lvl 10 npcs have 400000 warriors, who revive 10 pecent at every 5 minutes, but the most annoying is the wall defences that revive 90 percent almost instantly. Fortunately next time will be 90 percent from 90, so in time will be easier if you come with many attacks.

But if you are not well prepared, soon you will be overwhelmed. So even you get one medal at every 5 minutes when you wipe 40k wars, when you need 30 or more medals, you will notice that the task will cost you many days of preparing.

The tale of an hero

There are not so many visitors yet, since the blog is quite new, but I got some feedback. One is from another player, who is not a writer and do not like writing but have a funny story to tale. But because he fears that nobody will like the story, asked me to add a poll and ask you, the readers of this blog, if you would like to hear how he captured an fat hero, even he is not an aggresive player, but quite on contrary, he is a farmer, a simcity player.

He told me in few words what is about, and I made a kind of haiku :)

There was once a lord, he was mighty, he was fierce and he was grim.
And next to him was a poor farmer, a peasant hungry and very slim.
The lord wanted his cottage, his land and all, and he attacked like a fire ball.
He attacked and atacked and still attacked, till he lost his armies, he lost his teeth, he lost quite all.
And his hero deserted too. His master was a loser after all!

Damn, I wrote one hour at this story and I do not know how, it was not saved.
Maybe the loser cursed me :))
Anyway I do not really liked how I approached it so I will start over

My hero is a farmer.
Farmer in game of course. Maybe in real life too. I do not know him.

He started his Evony game as simcity player. Even he was chased all over the map. With his tail between his legs or by luck escaped everytime.

But when he was ready the showed his teeth and defeated the enemy.

He defeated the enemy, but chance gave to him the hero of the enemy too. That hero was so fat so could not be pesuaded easy. Is quite a story this persuasion marathon

The feeding

This is not fun, is just some technical stuff for those who happens to be new on Evony.

On Evony as in life, you have resources,. But the difference is that in life resources are many types, and in Evony just few. Food, Lumber, Stone and Iron. There is gold too. And medals, items, soldiers, game coins can be considered resources too.

For building, making troops or other activities you need primary resources. All of them, or just only gold for example. But troops constantly costs food to be kept alive. Some are economical, like workers, who consumes 2 units of food per hour, or other are quite devouring food like cataphracts 35 units per hour, or catapults 50 units per hour. So 10000 catapults, will eat half million food per hour, 12 million food per day.

You can have food building farms. One farm at lvl 10 will make 5500 units per hour. Of course, researching food production at 10 will double this production, having an hero as mayor with good politics will give more than double, conquering high level lakes or grass fields will give some more too, but in a final you cannot get much more over a million production of food per hour per city. So the army that can be fed is limited.

But there are the npcs who have theyr own production. The trick is that balistas having high range of attack can wipe out all deffences of npcs till lvl 5 with no losses if you use enough ballistas. And that 5 lvl will give you 3 million of food. So here starts farming. You make ballistas and trasporters and at every 8 hours you attack npcs for feeding the troops.
No big deal to throw few attacks. But if you have 10 villages. 9 heroes in each one, meaning 45 atacks, and every attack click on npc, click attack, type or paste the number of ballistas, idem transporters, select the hero, and send the atack, click ok, close the window, and this sequence 45 times in a row, and repeat this row maybe 10 times per day, soon you will start losing your senses.

The feeding will be part of some stories, so now you know what feeding means.

Funny facts and happenings in Evony

Fun is happening. Anywhere. In Evony too.

From the simple fact that I need Justice medals but I get Nation medals, and when I need Nation medals I get Justice. Funny, isn't it? Yes, funny for you who are reading but not for me when I was smoldering by anger. And fun goes till complex things when you get 1000 cents on roulette while all other get speakers.

At one moment I started to take printscreens when something weird happened. So let browse them and remember the fun :)

5 in 4

In the age of consuming ans mercantilism we are accustomed with the notion of 2 in 1, meaning two products in a single product, or three or even more in one. One peak of multifunctional you can see in this clip published on youtube.

Anyway, in my case what no so multi in one. it was just 5. You know that you can make one research at a time in one academy. I had 4 cities, 4 academies, but I was making 5 researches.

Welcome in the magick world of Evony.

Evony is an imaginary world, http://evony.com where lords and ladies rules over kingdoms, build cities and armies, and fight imaginary fights.

There are not magick creatures or miracles that pop into existence whatever you wish for, but there is a magick that hook up those who enter this world. And there is a magick that makes weird an funny things happen.

In last year since I live in this virtual world, I gathered many funy tales, happened to me, or those close to me.

I will share them with you, and hope you will enjoy them, have fun, and eventually share your stories too, if you dragged your tired bones through the dusty wastelands of Evony too.

Disclaimer

I am not an native English speaker. So my English is far from being perfect. As a matter of fact is quite the opposite.

So please bear with my spelling.

More than a decade ago I was in contact with three friends native americans. And I asked them about the quality of my English.
First, businesman, japanese translator, with whom I had only mail correspondence, told me sincerely that my English is terrrible. And I agree that he was right.
The second, English teacher, was not so harsh in telling the truth and told that my English is ..."fine", but with indulgency in his voice. Now a decade later he admited that my English improved. I think he is still indulgent :)
The third one, poet and artist, said without hesitation, that my English is perfect since we can discuss any subject without any problem. Almost without, I must add, because at least once I lost many minutes to understand that he is talking about fleas, not about flies :)
